This is the s#@*t! I'm also a "jazz" musician and also went to the the same school as Mark (the producer/drumer of this album), but am a real electronic music freak. I spend way more time listening to hiphop, house, D&B, broken beat etc. I find most of the time when people try and incorporate this kind of stuff into a crossover jazz/electonic thing they get it so wrong. These guys have really come with something fresh though, using concepts of drum & bass, broken beat, rock, funk, and their own style. The sounds they get are great, especially love those vintage synth/keyboard sounds. Their individual playing is at the highest level, but they they sound like a real band playing their own original and beautiful music. Not a bunch of dudes who got together for a day to record a meaningless collection of standards. Don't hesitate... buy this if you like music!!
