This is my third dehumidifier in the last 3 months, and it’s easily the most effective. The other two are smaller, cheaper dehumidifiers that use the Peltier effect. They’re both in windowless bathrooms and while they’re better than nothing, I suspect they’re inadequate for the job, and I have to empty them out every day. I plan on replacing them when they break down.The rest of our living space is often around 60% humidity or higher, which is just unhealthy for us and our pets. I knew I needed something more effective than what I had, and decided on this dehumidifier rather than more expensive ones for the following reasons:1. Awesome 3-year warranty2. Size seems “just right” for our bedroom or the open living room/kitchen space3. More effective technology than the Peltier and larger water reservoir4. Quiet setting is quieter than our box fan on medium5. It puts out some heat, which makes it ideal for fall-winter-spring in Oregon. I got it right at the beginning of summer and I only tried it out for about a week to make sure it worked (according to my Govee monitor, it measurably lowered the humidity in a room that’s about 300 sq ft and has 8ft tall ceilings.) I’m comfortable hanging onto it until the temperatures drop back into the 50s-60s because of the aforementioned warranty.6. Not too big, and easy to pick up and move with the handle.7. Has a drainage hose option, though I will probably not use it. No issues with leaks for the time I’ve used it.8. Much more accessible price point for this type of dehumidifier with all of its perks than anything else I saw available.No regrets, and already looking forward to getting to use it when the temps fall again!UPDATE 8/11/2024I love this dehumidifier even more than I thought. It’s August, we’ve had 80+ degree days, and I broke down and started using the dehumidifier in the master bathroom despite the heat. I had been struggling to breathe and had a lingering cough for a while (suspect a mold allergy in our rental). Within 8-12 hours this beast is filling up with the amount of water that my cheap dehumidifier got over a week. While it’s not a long-term solution for a serious mold problem, I’m definitely breathing a better after a week of using it and I like to think it’s slowing or preventing further mold growth.I don’t have a humidity monitor in the 100-sq ft bathroom right now, but the adjoining bedroom is now 5% lower than the rest of our place. I didn’t expect much difference in the bedroom because I’ve been keeping the door to the bathroom closed a lot, so that’s impressive to see! At this rate I am seriously considering giving away the other little dehumidifiers and ordering a second one of these.
