This mat is very easy to modify to improve its fit if your sink is such that they ride up the sides-as it did on ours.I intentionally ordered a size that I KNEW would extend partway up the sides of a stainless steel sink in our kitchen-to give better protection to glassware and dishes. Trimming the "corners" so that they didn't overlap wasn't difficult, and it takes the wrinkles out when the entire mat can touch down without layering anywhere.I only wish that these were available with a different pattern and shape of punched holes, so that it would have been possible to have an unbroken circle surrounding the sink drain basket instead of an approximation of a circle that is necessarily jagged due to the rectangular punched holes.
