it does keep the moist level in a basement at the right level. i can serve a large area as well due to the powerful fan. it is quiet also.albeit it has a small container, that i knew but was going to hook it up for a permanent draining. this is not well documented. be aware that this needs a gravity pull or some sort of a sump pump to get it all out and away. if the drain hose is not able to "look downward" the moist will build up in the machine and eventually overflow as the liquid produced is not "heavy enough" to push build up through the hose. This unit is moderately quiet and has been doing the job so far. The gauge that shows the humidity level doesn't match another device we use to monitor humidity levels, but it stays within 8-10 numbers and, is taking a sufficient amount of humidity out of the inside air to make it very comfortable, easier to breathe, and keep the floors dry. It helps to keep the temperature in the house very comfortable because of less humidity! We found we need to run it night and day to maintain the levels, otherwise, it has to start all over again in the morning to keep the humidity levels down. We have it in the hall which is in the middle of our 1600 sq. ft. home. We empty the little bucket, which holds 4 cups of water, 2-3 times daily. Happy we tried this one!I live in GA, so it’s plenty humid around. I added this to help the stuff in my garage stay dry and not get moldy. The drain hose is great too! I added an extender I got from work and it’s perfect! The display is awesome too, keeps me informed on how my stuff is surviving.Running in small basement, humidity started at 72% 24 hours later it only got down to 62% running with the auto setting set to 55% with high fan speed. We liked the dehumidifiers because they have reduced the high humidity in our home effectively. This thing is fantastic, with one exception. It's about as quiet as my refrigerator (which I can barely hear). It's able to condense water a very fast pace. I actually think it's over designed for the size they have established for it. I really like the humidity readout on the top, although I need to actually verify that it's reading correctly. What I don't like about it is the size of the water container. I had to put it on my kitchen counter and use the hose, because a 4 pint container on a 30 pint unit is NOT big enough. This thing filled the container within 8 hours of turning it on.This thing is capable of removing more moisture than advertised. I have had this unit running in my apartment for a few days now. It has been removing approximately 5 gallons of water/day from the air in my apartment. So expect to use the hose or have to empty the water pail multiple times per day.I can't say enough good stuff about this. If you need a dehumidifier. This is the one for you. I bought a TEC dehumidifier right before this. I paid 3/4 as much as this one cost me. It was well worth the extra cost. It works 50 times better. The TEC only made 4oz in 48 hours. This thing made 67oz in 8 hours. Multiply that out, and it made 200oz over 48 hours. That's almost as good as one I used that cost 3 times this one and was rated at almost twice the capacity.Love the optional drain hoseThis SAHAUHY 1500 Sq.Ft Dehumidifier has been running in my damp basement nonstop since It arrived on May 13. I have always purchased the huge ones but can no longer lift them since they have to be higher than the bucket or utility tub. I am still amazed at how much water this pulls out of the air. It pulls out as much water as my larger ones did and only uses half the electricity. It looks so nice that I hated having to put it in my basement. Everything about it works fine with lots of options on the top instrument panel. It also comes with a flexible and long drainage hose. Other small units come with a curled hard hose that you cannot straighten and they are too short. At first I used a normal bucket for drainage until I realized the amount of water this unit was pulling out of the air so now I’m using the 5 gallon size so that if I ever forget to dump it, it won’t overflow. I am extremely happy with this purchase. It is a functionnal «toy size» Dehumidifier. Amazingly quiet for use even in a bedroom. You could bearely ear a sound while running. The quietest I ever bought !But ...Maybe not suitable for ... 1500 sq ft espacially if you have very humid area. More moisture you have more hot it is, more humidity it will remove, of course. The real life performance at @70% humidity level at 18x celcius = remove between 150ml to 250ml per hour (4x to 6x liters = 9 to 12 pints per 24 hours -- not really more). Definitely not the advertised 24 pints (11.5x liter) per day; definitely not. Anyway, I find it not bad since my basement is 750 sq ft, well insulated and not that humid; it do the job well. Water tub is small but it is easy to connect to a drain. This unit is equiped with a real compressor using «r134a gas» wich is more performing the «Peltier technology» of some cheap dehumidifier. Use only 165 watts. So, it is normal to work more hours to get the job done. Keep in mind that when it is too powerfull, it cycle on/off too oftenly and ... do not do the job. So, sometimes, smaller could be better. I suggest to it leave on automatic 24/24 running at 50% humidity set and connect it directly to a drain. Use it like this and it could do a great job. Now, will it last long and if a problem happen, how to get the «advertised Amazon 24x months warranty»? It could be challenging ! Warranty issue are always a problem with Amazon, ALWAYS, and espacially with ... no name brand like this one. But, we will cross the bridge when arrived at the river. Only time will tell. Hope this helpfull. Have a good shoping !I have 2 smaller dehumidifier units at home that works, but takes a long time to remove moisture from the room. I thought it has to do with the size of the dehumidifier but I have been proven wrong. While this unit is slightly bigger than the ones I have, the water storing capability is about the same. To my surprise, this unit is 2-3 times faster in extracting moisture. It is not summer time yet, and the humidity is not high but it was able to extract 2L overnight. When it gets warmer, I will place the unit near a drain so I can use the auto drain function for it to run continuously without needing to empty manually.I read all the reviews, pro and con. Most were pro so I bought it. Arrived very fast (a couple of days). Powered it up, extremely quite can barely hear it. The unit has decent airflow and immediately began removing moisture. For a test I didn't use the continuous flow hose and just used the tank. It filled, shut off, and gave an alarm. The unit works fine, is now connected for continuous flow, and has reduced the RH in our large basement in half a day. Great value, a fine product. Just works, who could ask for more.
